1/2cupchopped nuts (optional; walnuts or pecans work beautifully)
a pinchsalt
for dustingcocoa powder or powdered sugar (optional, for that extra flair)
Instructions
Begin by lining an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, ensuring that some paper hangs over the edges. This will allow for easy removal of the fudge later on.
Place a medium saucepan over medium heat and combine the semisweet chocolate chips and the sweetened condensed milk. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until the chocolate chips melt completely and the mixture transforms into a smooth, glossy texture.
Once melted, promptly remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the pure vanilla extract and add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.
With a gentle folding motion, incorporate the mini marshmallows and the chopped nuts (if you’re using them) into the chocolate mixture, ensuring they are evenly distributed without over-mixing.
Carefully pour the rich fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish, using a spatula to spread it into an even layer.
Transfer the baking dish to the refrigerator and allow the fudge to chill for at least 2 hours, or until it has completely set and is firm to the touch.
Once set, lift the fudge out of the dish using the overhanging parchment paper. Place it on a cutting board and slice into squares or rectangles to serve.
For an optional finishing touch, dust the surface of the fudge pieces with cocoa powder or powdered sugar before serving, adding a delightful hint of sweetness.
Notes
Arrange the fudge squares on a decorative plate and sprinkle with additional mini marshmallows for a playful look. Enjoy with a side of hot chocolate for a delightful treat!
